WA: Labor to review unions' role in poor state performance
Labor says it'll investigate whether the behaviour of West Australian militant unionists
played a role in the party's relatively poor performance in the state during the federal
election.
The party's national campaign director .. TIM GARTRELL .. has told the National Press
Club the review will examine what role the controversy surrounding the CFMEU'S WA secretary
.. JOE MCDONALD .. played in the result.
The swing to Labor in WA was 2.24 per cent .. compared to the national average of 5.59 per cent.
Mr MCDONALD was expelled from the ALP in October at the behest of KEVIN RUDD .. after
he said that JOHN HOWARD was "gone."
