BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. -- Bobby Jones and Ben Hogan were perfect U.S. Open champions. In his own way, so was Steve Jones.
Bobby Jones was the Harvard educated amateur, the perfect gentleman with the perfect swing. Hogan was the gruff little former caddie who went to work when he was 10 to help support his widowed mother.
They each won the Open four times -- the record they share with Willie Anderson and Jack Nicklaus.
And while it is unlikely Steve Jones will add three more titles to the one he won Sunday, he shares something more important with Jones and Hogan than just having their name on the silver …
