The coup in the Soviet Union may be over, but the fundamental political and economic crises that led to it are not.
That was the view Wednesday of two Capital District experts on the Soviet Union.
"This might be the beginning of the coup era in the Soviet Union," said Robert Sharlet, a professor of political science at Union College. "This may not be the last coup attempt ... and future ones might be more effective."
