The Town Board Monday night appropriated $7,500 for an informational campaign on a $16.75 million proposal to establish a municipal water district.
The board also designated itself as the lead agency for the state environmental quality review that will determine any environmental significance in establishing the district.
Both moves followed a 2 1/2-hour public hearing on the proposal, in which the need for a municipal district was not disputed - but its financing and configuration were.
The board also committed itself to at least three more informational meetings on the proposal for sometime after Labor Day. …
