JULY CONTRACTS FOR ethylene and propylene rolled over from June. Butadiene producers have diverged on contract price expectations for this quarter; some have proposed a penny increase each for July and August; others are seeking increases of 2 cts/lb in July.
Methanex has announced a 6-cts/gal hike for August methanol contracts. Negotiations for the 3-cts/gal increase in July continue. Spot prices gained 2 cts-3 cts/gal last week, to 64 crs-66 cts/gal. However, methyl tertbutyl ether (MTBE) spot prices shed about 2 cts/gal last week on failing gasoline prices.
